Nothing..those sites are garbage. You’ll have to bid out your work, and you’re going against some guys in india that will do it for about $5.00 an hour. I tired doing it, and it was frustrating as hell. If you can get a decent job as a contract/full time developer locally, do it. You should expect $14-$20/per hour.
I did a project once through Scriptlance and ODesk, ended up doing way too much work because of scope creep and the client thought that i should give free upgrades, etc. Ended up making about $7.00/hr. Waste of time, seriously. Plus you have to give those guys your money too as part of their cut.
